The Relationship between Kinetic House-Tree-Person Response Characteristics and Depression

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between response characteristics of kinetic house-tree-person and depression. At First, we ran social, emotional, development test, childrens depression test, and K-HTP test for 2,309 children who belonged to regional children¡¯s¡¯ center at G Metro-city and selected 173 children whose scores were greater than 22. We analyzed their response characteristics on dynamics of house-tree-person and utilized SPSS variance analysis for investigation on the relation between their response characteristics and depression states. The results showed that the pictures without houses scored significantly higher on depression scores than those with low, middle, and high location of houses. The results also showed that the pictures without trees scored significantly higher than those with trees which were located at the low, middle, high level on papers. In addition, showed that the pictures without persons scored significantly higher on depression than those with persons who were positioned at low, middle, high location on papers. And persons without lips showed significantly higher scores on depression than those with lips. Sad faces scored significantly higher on depression that smiling faces. Finally, the pictures without intimate relationship showed statistically higher scores on depression than those with intimate relationship.
